To apply to these programs:

  1. The Graduate Group in Applied Mathematics (GGAM)
  2. Graduate Program in Mathematics
Use the UC Davis on-line graduate application system.

The application fee is $70.00 for the domestic application and $90.00 for the international application. You may pay for the fee by either credit card or e-check. Do note that the fee must be paid before the application will be considered as complete, and it must be paid for each application submitted.

For full consideration, the deadline to submit the online application for our graduate programs is January 15.

Although it is not recommended, we can consider late applications, but only if submitted before May 31st. The online system will not accept applications after this date.

In addition to completing the UC Davis online application, you must submit the following materials electronically. Applications and all material listed here should be received by the deadline provided below:

  1. Three letters of recommendations must be submitted electronically through the online application system. Please inform your letter writers to NOT send their recommendations in hard copy.
  2. GRE official scores: For the Applied Mathematics and Mathematics programs, both the GRE-General test and the GRE-Subject test in Mathematics are required. Please note that photocopies or unofficial scores will not be accepted. When arranging to have your scores sent electronically, be sure that you include the correct institution and department codes. The institution code for UC Davis is 4834. The department code for Mathematics is 0703 and for Applied Mathematics, it is 0702. For more information about sending your scores electronically or to receive information on taking the GRE tests, including test dates, go to http://www.gre.org/.
  3. International students are required to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score. Photocopies or unofficial scores will not be accepted. When arranging to have your scores sent electronically, be sure that you include the correct institution and department codes. The institution code for UC Davis is 4834. The department code for Mathematics is 72 and for Applied Mathematics, it is 54. For more information about sending your scores electronically, go to www.ets.org.

Certified copies of all transcripts (with translation if needed) and a brief course description of work you have completed or will complete are also required. Please arrange to have these documents mailed directly to:

Graduate Coordinator
Department of Mathematics
University of California, Davis
One Shields Avenue
Davis, CA 95616-8633
Phone: (530)752-8131

Again, your transcripts and course descriptions should be received by the deadlines provided below. Also note that unofficial transcripts or photocopies of your transcripts will not be accepted. When making arrangements to have these materials submitted for consideration, please note the following:

  1. Provide only one certified copy of your transcripts for each school that you have attended. It is recommended that you wait to submit your transcripts only after you have marked your application complete and submitted it. This allows for more efficient and effective matching of transcripts to applicants. In the case of multiple applications, please send only one transcript to your first choice of graduate programs or to the first completed graduate program application.
  2. Course descriptions should list upper-level or graduate-level mathematics courses which you have taken or plan to take before entering graduate school at Davis. Be sure to include the course number, subject matter covered, and books used for each of the described courses.

Deadlines:

January 15: UC Davis Fellowship application (contained within the UC Davis Graduate Application).

January 15: GGAM (Graduate Group in Applied Mathematics) (MS and PhD) - UC Davis Graduate Application and other material, as indicated above. Late applications will be considered.

Janaury 15: Mathematics (MA and PhD) UC Davis Graduate Application and other material, as indicated above. Late applications will be considered.

Note: It is NOT necessary to submit a separate Teaching Assistant (TA) application as the information provided in your graduate admissions application is entirely sufficient.
